| William Allen Asher was born on July 24, 1964, and exactly three weeks later, his mother, who was born Elizabeth Montgomery, turned him over to a nurse and set out on a honeymoon--with a man who was no relation at all to young Billy. What's more, the baby's father master-minded the whole thing, and as of now everyone involved is happy as a clam. But it wasn't as scandalous as it sounds; in fact, it wasn't scandalous at all, for Liz's "honeymoon" was strictly for the TV cameras, where she and her "husband," Dick York, were directed by Billy's father, William Asher, in "Bewitched," one of the big hit series of the season. And though Samantha, the witch she plays in the ABC-TV series, is as cozy as any bride during the filming, at lunch time she goes off hand-in-hand with Billy's dad. And fortunately little Billy, though he has visited the set, is too young to be confues by the goings on...At 31, Liz is not only having a ball--what other bride can produce a birthday cake with all the trimmings simply by wriggling her nose?--she has also emerged as a star in her own right after being known for years as "Robert Montgomery's daughter." Born in Los Angeles, Liz is an alumna of the proper schools on both coasts...began her acting career at 18 on one of her father's television shows...and had appeared in more than 250 live TV dramas, any number of filmed ones, and three movies, before she became "Bewitched." She'd been married twice before--to TV exec Frederic Cammann and actor Gig Young--but now she feels she has hit the jackpot. The family that works together stays together, she says. And that goes even when she's honeymooning with another guy, and her real-life husband is standing on the sidelines, telling her exactly how to do it. | ||||||||||
