LIZ MONTGOMERY -
AND THE SON OF A WITCH

TV Radio Annual
1966
When she opened her eyes and saw little William Allen Asher for the first time, her first words were, "He's darling, but when can I have another?" Her doctor suggested she wait until she got out of the delivery room before starting another such project, and that's about as long as Liz Montgomery did wait. Little Billy was born on July 24, 1964, and just 14 months later, on October 5, 1965, Liz was back in St. John's Hospital maternity ward. It was soon obvious that Rebecca, the name she and her husband, director Bill Asher, had chosen, was not going to do, and they picked Robert Deverell Asher (who immediately became Bobby) instead. But it really makes little difference to the girl who plays Samantha in the ABC-TV series, "Bewitched." She wants a big family, and whether Rebecca comes second, third or fourth is immaterial. Samantha, of course, could have produced a girl simply by wrinkling her nose, but this time she has to go along with Liz. Like Robert Deverell Asher, the new baby who's appearing in the series this winter is a boy--the son of a witch.
